The troop wrapped up the Scouting year with a fun-filled weekend camping at nearby Short Beach. About a dozen Scouts and half a dozen adults spent Saturday enjoying the sun on one of the year's hottest days. As the temperature soared into the 90's, the Scouts played "grease the pig" and had a great time in the afternoon. Everyone pitched in to cook a hamburger and hot dog dinner and prepare an evening campfire. It was great to see the number of new Scouts in attendance at this event, and special thanks is due for the parents who donated their time and energy to the troop for the weekend. Aside from all the fun, one young Scout didn't forget about the importance of rank advancement. First-year Scout Tim R. participated in and passed his Scoutmaster Conference for Tenderfoot on this outing. He will be good and ready for his Board of Review once we start up again in September. Special thanks to Bill Davis for making the arrangements for the weekend.
