On July 29th, Troop 75
went to Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Rhode Island. There we worked on merit
badges, earned awards and went on hikes. Surprisingly, fishing was very
popular with Troop 75 this year. One of the scouts even caught an eel!
The food was excellent as always and our campers were kept well fed. There
were also problems in camp. On the second day a scout unfortunately sliced
open his finger and had to get stitches at the infirmary. Several of
our older scouts completed the Mile Swim. We also had one scout compete in
the Three Point Road Race. The war canoes proved to be very popular. There
was a camp wide scavenger hunt and a costume contest keeping with the week's
theme of pirates. The troop undertook the Handicap Awareness Trail
where a pair of scouts, one deaf one blind, had to traverse an obstacle
course. We also had some scouts go to religious services on Sunday,
holding true to the 12th point of the Scout Law, "A Scout is Reverent".
Many thanks to all the adult leaders who gave up their time to make this
such a great year for the boys.
